Combined Temperature and Another Phusical value Sensor

I have read a lot of publications that consider fiber sensors or systems of them, based on fiber Bragg gratings (FBG). I could not find a serious publications with fundamental mathematic background considers a temperature compensation methods of FBG sensors, even despite the well-known fact that the temperature strongly affects on central wavelength shifting of FBG.

The general approach to a method of temperature compensation is to usage of pair FBG sensors one of whom is a temperature sensor and a second sensor is used for another physical value measuring. It is assumed that a temperature sensor is influenced only by an external temperature field, and another physical value sensor is influenced by both temperature and physical field. It is assumed that an external temperature is equal for both sensors.

The simplest way to temperature compensation method is in taking into consideration the difference of central wavelength shifting between temperature and second sensors. It seems a fitting way, but it has a lot of disadvantages. The first and general of them is the assumption, that a central wavelength shift is equal for temperature FBG and another physical value FBG. This is not that of course. It cannot be avoided an influence of construction and fabric of another physical value sensor on central wavelength shifting except fiber thermal expansion.

There is an approach without this disadvantage in the propose when a physical value is a function of two variables, namely a central wavelength shift of temperature sensor and a central wavelength shift of physical value sensor.

This function describes a surface, which has a polynomial dependence of each own variable. The power of its polynomial dependence is selected from the general principles. It can be selected as second power polynomial dependence for temperature and the third power polynomial dependence can be selected for another physical value sensor. Calibration of the physical value sensor aims at finding the unknown coefficients of the approximating surface.

What do you think, did the article with this method description useful to the readers? This task was solved by me and only in Russian language publication was made early.
